Abstract (EN)
In this thesis study, the removal of methylene blue, which is frequently used in the textile industry, from aqueous solution under appropriate adsorption conditions using Amberlyst 15, a polymeric resin, as an adsorbent was investigated. Adsorption studies were carried out under different experimental conditions such as pH, contact time, initial dye concentration, amount of adsorbent and temperature. In studies on the removal of methylene blue with Amberlyst 15, the highest removal percentage was calculated as 98.90% (298K, pH=9, initial methylene blue concentration = 100 ppm, adsorbent amount = 1,0 g/L, contact time = 90 minutes). Adsorption isotherm data were analyzed using Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, Dubinin Radushkevich (D-R), and Redlich-Peterson (RP) isotherm models and isotherm constants were calculated. It was seen that it was compatible with the isothermal Langmuir model made for Amberlyst 15. While the maximum adsorption capacity calculated from Langmuir isotherm equations is 178.57 mg/g for Amberlyst 15. Adsorption kinetic investigation was evaluated by pseudo first order, pseudo second order, and intra-bulk diffusion model. A pseudo-second-order kinetic model was determined for Amberlyst 15. Also, the thermodynamic parameters were examined for and FTIR analysis was performed to determine the functional structure responsible for adsorption.
