Abstract (EN)
This research was descriptively conducted to verbal, physical and sexual abuse status determination to the operating room nurses.Health staff working in stressful, being exposed to abuse and administratively problematic environment cause with negatively effects patient care, association and health system.Located within the boundaries of municipality of Ankara, operating room nurses (n=715) who works in totally 38 hospitals were the center of this research.Data collecting from this study were rated by using SPSS 15.0 packet program. Descriptive statistical number was made by percent, average and standard deviation; comparisons of categorical data were made by Chi Square Test and comparisons of trait variables were made by T Test and analysis of variance.According to data collecting from our research; verbal, physical and sexual abuse rates respectively are 84,5%, 25,5% and 32,6%. 30% of nurses in our research were stated reporting the event. Our findings show that doctors are the most common source of abuse of all types of abuse. Abused nurses stated that abuse affects relations, reduces job performance and causes to quit nursing. Verbally abused nurses stated they solve the problem by talking that person about the behavior while physically abused nurses reported the event to the person in charge. Sexually abused nurses stated that they solve the problem by acting as if it never existed.The most common physical ailments experienced abused nurses are headache, fatigue, insomnia and stomachache. Verbal abuse most often exposed to nurses with less years of study, physical abuse most often exposed to nurses with more years of study. In addition, in our study women are mostly exposed to verbal and sexual abuse while men are mostly exposed to physical abuse. Recommendations are made in accordance with the results.
