Abstract (EN)

The rapid changes in science and technology effected the education policy of countries and force them to update their teaching curriculum. For the mutual problems of different countries and the solution to these problems, comparable education became more important. This research is done to compare the differences and similarities between the reading and the writing curriculum at elementary school in Turkey and in the state of New Jersey, United States of America. In the study, because the goal was to work on the current state, scanning method was used. The data about the teaching curriculum and the education systems were collected from the related literature and the digital area. The data was obtained by descriptive analysis technique. In this research language art programs of Turkey and the state of USA as called New Jersey are compared by sizes of acquisition, content, educational situations, and situations of assessment. According to gained data some suggestions are made to program.. As a result of the research, the education system in both countries are similar with each other. The education curriculum in Turkey is more detail oriented and the one in New Jersey, USA is more generalized. It is determined that both affective and kinesthetic objectives are included beside regional qualification.
