Abstract (EN)
In this study, the effects of American poetry and the Beat Generation on contemporary Turkish poetry were investigated. In the study, the historical developments of contemporary Turkish and American poems were examined, traces of the influence of American poetry and the Beat Generation movement that emerged in the 1950s on Turkish poetry were traced, it was examined whether the American poetry and the Beat Generation movement affected contemporary Turkish poetry, and how and to what extent this effect was tried to be revealed. In the study, reception aesthetics theory, emotional impact theory and comparison method were used. In the first part of the study; the historical development of Turkish poetry under Western influence and poets involved in this process were discussed, in this part, chronologically, historical and biographical information were given. In the second part; theoretical information about the aesthetics of reception and emotional impact theory were given. In the last part; the influence of American poetry and the Beat Generation on contemporary Turkish poetry were tried to be unearthed. As a result of the study, the effect of post-1950 American poetry and the Beat Generation movement that emerged on the same dates on contemporary Turkish poetry, which social and cultural backgrounds of this effect were built on, and the present of Turkish poetry was tried to be uncovered. In the light of the sources examined and the information obtained from the interviews in the field, it has been observed that this effect started in the 1980s and continues especially on the poems and poets written today.
