Abstract (EN)

Historically, we see that women face various problems in all societies. Due to existing inequalities, various women thinkers have produced answers to these problems throughout history. Amine Wedud and Fatima Mernissi, whom we examined in our study, also approached the difficulties and inequality experienced by women from the perspective of Muslim women in Islamic societies. In this context, in our study, what are the approaches, criticisms and solution suggestions of Amine Wedud and Fatima Mernissi regarding the women's problem in Islamic society? What are the points where two thinkers converge and diverge? These questions were discussed and the descriptive model method was used which is an extension of the qualitative research method. As a result, Wedud examined the issues of marriage, divorce, alimony and domestic violence; It was seen that Mernissi focused on politics, power, virginity and polygamy. Both Wedud and Mernissi focused on inequality in Islamic societies by using a common language. Mernissi highlighted how women were used as "modern concubines" in the patriarchal system due to their lack of education, unemployment and poverty; Wadud, on the other hand, opposed polygamy and tried to refute the social understanding that tried to legitimize polygamy.
