Abstract (EN)

In this study, firstly, as a result of a participation reaction of (aminomethyl)polystyrene with salicylaldehyde, 5-fluoro-salicylaldehyde and 5-Fluoro-3-chloro-salicylaldehyde, three new polymers containing carbinolamine were synthesized. In addition to this, in the condensation reaction of the (aminomethyl)polystyrene with 5-fluoro-3-methyl-salicylaldehyde, a new polymer containing schiff base were synthesized. After then, Ni(II) and Cr(III) complexes by via template were prepared.Structure of all modified polymers and their Ni(II) and Cr(III) complexes have been characterized by using spectral analysis such as 1H-NMR, FT-IR, UV-GB, TGA-DTA and elemental analysis. The changes in the surface structure of modified polymers were examined with SEM-EDX analysis. Square planar geometry for the Ni(II) complexes, octahedral geometry for the Cr(III) complexes were suggested.Antibacterial and antifungal activities of modified polymers and their Ni(II) and Cr(III) complexes were investigated against the Staphylococcus aureus ATCC25923, Escherichia coli ATCC-1280, Salmonella typhi H NCTC- 901.8394, Pseudomonas putida sp., Brucella abortus (A.99, UK-1995) RSKK-03026, Shigella dysenteriae typ 10, Listeria monocytogenes 4b, Burucella cereus, Staphylococcus epidermis, Micrococus luteus and Candida albicans Y-1200-NIH. When the antimicrobial test results compared, Cr(III) coordination polymers were seen more effective against the studied bacteria.Key Words : Schiff bases, (aminomethyl)polystyrene, coordination polymers, antimicrobial activity and drug
