Medieval unglazed ceramics found in Amorium Upper City "Basilica B" (2013-2019) excavations

The subject of the doctoral thesis titled "Medieval Unglazed Ceramics Uncovered in the Excavations of Amorium, Upper City "Basilica B" (2013-2019)" consist of unglazed ceramics found in the Amorium city excavations. The aforementioned finds were un covered during the archeological excavations carried out in Basilica B between 2013 and 2019. Amorium consist of two oriented urban cores, the "Upper City" and the "Lower City", all surrounded by walls. Basilica B is located on the slope of the mound, to the northeast of the Upper City. Basilica B is one of the four churches identified in the city. According to the preliminary results of the excavations started in 2013, it is the largest church in the city an apse with three naves and seven facades in the east-west direction. According to the archeological excavations carried out in the building between 2013-2019, the first phase of the building is dated to the 5th-6th centuries. It is understood that Basilica B lost its function in the Middle Byzantine Period or just before, and was divided into spaces of different sizes due to various reasons (fire, destruction, deliberate demolition). The church which was determined to have lost its function in the Middle Byzantine Period or just before, and was divided into spaces of different size for various reasons, was used as a residence between the 12th-14th centuries, during the Seljuk, Principalities and Ottoman Periods and even as a workshop due to the ceramic kiln materials unearthed can be said to be used. In this doctoral thesis, there are 445 form giving pieces of unglazed ceramics unearthed during the excavations between 2013-2019 in Basilica B, the excavation of which began in 2013. This thesis which was carried out in order to contribute to the literatüre of Basilica B unglazed ceramic finds, will shed light on the Daily use vessels of the city of Amorium and the use of Basilica B in periods.
