Total quality management applications in fine arts anadolu high schools

ABSTRACT TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT APPLICATIONS IN FINE ARTS ANADOLU HIGH SCHOOLS Gülten KOVANCI Division of Educational Sciences ( Education Administration, Supervising, Planning and Economics) Anadolu University Institute of Educational Sciences, September 2003 Advisor : Associate Professor, Esmahan A?AOGLU The aim of this study is to identify the opinions about the Total Quality Management of the teachers and the managers who apply in Fine Arts Anadolu High Schools. The study was designed in survey method was carried out in the education year of 2002- 2003, that 361 teachers and 58 managers who work in 40 Fine Arts Anadolu High School in Turkey were the subject of this research. 73 percent of teachers and 71 percent of managers who took the questionarie presented useful data. This research was collected with the aim of to determine the opinions of the teachers and managers in Fine Arts Anadolu High Schools about Total Quality Management which is applied in schools. The data was needed to attain the aims of this research was collected by means of a surway entitled "Teachers and Managers opinions related to applications of Total Quality management in Fine Arts Anadolu High Schools" was prepared by the researcher. Frequency and percentage calculations were used to analyse the data to determine the opinions of the teachers and managers about Total Quality Management Applications in Schools. To determine the opinions of the teachers and managers related to general results of Total Quality Management Applications in Fine Arts Anadolu High Schools, whether the opinions show a difference or not, according to the teachers' position, branch, seniority, education and level of knowledge on Total Quality Management Application; according to the managers' position, the way of appointment, seniority, education and level of knowledge on Total Quality management applications; IV"independent sample t test" was used to compare two groups. To compare more than two groups, ANOVA statistical technique was used. After the variance analysis if the F value was significant, than the "Tukey-HSD (Tukey's Honastly Significant Difference Test) was used. To analyse the data frequency, 0.05 significant level was used. In all statistical analysis of the research "SPSS 9.0 for Windows" software programme was used. According to the findings of this research, it was concluded that the great amount of teachers and managers in Fine Arts Anadolu High Schools think in general Total Quality Management Applications are come true. The teachers' opinions about the result of Total Quality Management Aplications are "medium"; however, the managers' opinions are in the level of "good". As a result, a meaningful difference between opinions is found out. The opinions of the teachers who work in Fine Arts Anadolu High Schools don't show difference according to changeable branch, education and having education about the subject of Total Quality Management Aplications; however,a meaningful difference was found out from the point of changeable position, in favour of the teachers who have temporary position and according to changeable seniority,being disadvantageous for the teachers who have 16-20 seniority year. It was found out that the managers who work in these schools doesn't show any meaningful difference from the point of view of personality feature. * *&$**
