Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to evaluate the morphological, micromorphological and anatomical measurements related to Anatolian Chestnut (Castanea sativa) leaves within the borders of Abana district of Kastamonu province. Moreover, this study was conducted within mixed (oak, beech, hornbeam, black pine, yellow pine), medium (41-70%) and fully closed (71-100%) forest stands. Some leaf parameters were measured as part of this study. These parameters include leaf blade width, petiole length, leaf blade length, leaf length, distance between lateral veins, teeth width, teeth length, angle between the leaf base, and petiole and angle between the midrib and lateral veins. With regard to micromorphological measurements; stoma size, stoma width, length and width of pore openness, ratio of stoma length to width, and stoma density values were examined using leaves collected from different elevation stages through Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Finally, fiber length, fiber wall thickness, elasticity coefficient, Rigidity coefficient, Muhlstep Ratio, Runkel Ratio, fiber diameter, lumen width, felting ratio, and F factor values were examined using wood samples of different elevation stages. Statistical analyses were undertaken in order to identify the altitude variation in the measured Anatolian Chestnut leaves. As a result, a difference with a confidence level of at least 95% was observed for examined species according to altitude.
