ABSTRACT This research examines the general job satisfaction levels among the teachers of Public Anatolia Schools. In this research, the job satisfaction levels of the teachers have been determined according to their schools they have graduated, priority, the total working time at their schools, ages and marital status on the dimentions of the job itself, administration, wage, relationships of the individuals, success - esteem - recognition and indifference of the parents and student. " The Job Satisfaction Scale" has been used in the study as the data collection instrument, the scale that has been arranged as the fivesome rating has been formed with 30 items and one dimention. 1183 teachers who worked at public elementary schools in the borders of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality in the academic year of 2002 - 2003 have formed the population of the study and 166 teachers have served as the sample. The study functions as the field research. Following finding have been reached as the result of statistical analysis. 1- The negative factors which affect the theacher job satisfaction levels are determined as the insufficient sport and resort center, lack of lesson material and the number of the man who Works as a janitor and massenger in schools. 2- There are not important differences between the job satisfactions levels of the teachers according to their fields and sex. v3- Important differences have been found between the job satisfaction levels of the teachers according to their graduated schools and ages. Some suggestions have been given at the end according to the findings reached by the study for the educational administrators, teacher education institutions and for the researchers. VI
