Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the PPARGC1A polymorphism in Anatolian water buffaloes, and determine the effect on milk yield and milk fat ratios. 200 blood samples were used for investigation. According to the results of our study, one SNP located at the c.1599A>T on the 8. exon of PPARGC1A gene was found. It is supposed that, this polymorphism may impress protein synthesis and function via the change in amino acid sequencing. This polymorphism may affect the milk yield and fat ratio for buffaloes. As a result, the relation of the PPARGC1A polymorphism and the milk quality is known from the previous dairy cattle studies. But, there is a limited research related with water buffaloes so it is hard to find clear evidences supporting our results. Further studies about the polymorphism encountered in the study would be useful in the water buffaloes.
