Abstract (EN)

Anatolia, with its fertile lands, has hosted different civilizations throughout history. Artifacts belonging to civilizations that lived in Anatolia are exhibited in Ankara Anatolian Civilizations Museum. Starting from the Paleolithic period, Anatolian geography carries traces of many settlements as a cultural heritage item. In this thesis, based on the Anatolian Civilizations Museum collection, some comments were made on some of the works that came to light. Mathematics is a course in which its usefulness is questioned throughout school life. However, mathematics continues to exist as a cornerstone in all areas of life, as in the formation process of art. In this study, in which the interaction of mathematics with the archaeological object was examined, mathematical definitions were made in archaeological works. While examining mathematics in the selected works, examples were also provided with the subjects in the mathematics course curriculum from time to time. In this study, a cooperation was established between the sciences of history, archeology, mathematics and geometry, and comments were made on mathematics and art by making an interdisciplinary examination. The language of mathematics consists of symbols. Since the applications of mathematics in the field of art in past cultures will be mentioned, the definition of symbolism and the connotations of the symbol are mentioned. Before examining civilizations, it is necessary to know the period in which they ruled and even the period before them. In this context, based on the period in which some of the works exhibited in the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations were found or the civilizations they belonged to, the contributions of the civilizations that lived in Anatolia to each other in these lands, as well as the traces of mathematics and geometry, were focused on. Yarımburgaz Cave and Karain Cave in the Paleolithic Period Göbeklitepe and Çatalhöyük in the Neolithic Period, Hacilar in the Chalcolithic Period, Alacahöyük, Boğazköy, Kültepe settlements where the traces of Hatti and Hittite Civilizations in the Bronze Age can be seen, and the capital of the Phrygian Civilization in the Iron Age. Mathematical and geometric interpretations were made on the artifacts by giving examples from the artifacts found in Gordion and the Urartian Civilization's Altıntepe and Adilcevaz settlements in Eastern Anatolia.
