Abstract (EN)

Medusa is a frequently encountered, captivating, and complex figure in mythological stories and artworks. Medusa is a rich component of ancient Greek mythology, drawing attention with both her mythological origins and visual representations. This study aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis of Medusa by focusing on various topics such as Medusa's etymology, iconography, mythology, depictions in architecture, portrayals on ceramics, sculptural works, mosaic figures, and depictions on coins. In this study, we aim to contribute to our understanding of the cultural significance and evolution of Medusa by examining the etymology, mythology, and visual representations of the Medusa figure in detail. In conclusion, this study presents an extensive investigation into the etymological origins, mythological stories, visual representations, and artistic aspects of Medusa. Understanding how Medusa is depicted in different art forms and the meaning behind these depictions will help us better comprehend the cultural importance of the Medusa figure.
