COURTYARD IN ANATOLIAN ARCHITECTURE (From Neolithic to the End of Bronz Age) (M. Sc. Thesis) Önder AYDIN GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY July 2000 ABSTRACT From Neolithic to Bronze age, Anatolia had been a place for continuity and changes in architecture. In this work, Anatolian architecture is examined by the typological survey of "courtyard", through the early periods, on the criterion ; order of mass and organisation of space. Derived data is categorised as generalisation and differentiation. Another aspect of this work is to examine the space courtyard itself in the history of early periods, according to the definition in the introduction. Thus the places defined as courtyards according to other disciplines, are reclassified and redefined.
