Produced naturally within building supplies,timber has been used in every typology of building production in Anatolia.Based on literature, timber material?s having a wide utilization area and beingdealt with by various researchers at various levels from different ways widelycauses the restriction of research subject by timber houses. Having a wealthystructure of society in which climate and topography display difference andthere are very different cultures, our wealthy, traditional housing architecturein which timber is used especially in process has been examined in Anatolia inwhere timber is dealt with in different forms since its establishment.Establishment of timber houses and its being known within area criterion by itsgeneral characteristics providing its becoming widespread considered as animportant fact. Processing is not restricted on a single area, residence or usagearea, by dealing with Anatolia as a whole, culture of housing whose maintransporting material is timber is aimed to be examined and by examining theconcept, establishment and development of traditional timber house byespecially literature hatching as specific aim- oriented, the factors of itsbecoming widespread and principles of its change have been tried to be fixed.viiAccepting geographical regions used generally as basic, Anatolia has been dealtwith as Regions of North Anatolia, Middle Anatolia, Western Anatolia, SouthAnatolia and Marmara in this analysis and timber houses formed by the effectof general characteristics of these regions and regional characteristics have beenexamined. At the end of the thesis, regioning map according to distribution oftimber house in Anatolia has been attained.
