Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study was to conduct item analysis of Anadolu-Sak Intelligence Scale (ASIS) for 10 and 11 year-old children. The ASIS is the first national intelligence scale. ASIS is an individually administered intelligence scale for 4 to 12 year-old children. The purpose of the ASIS is to reliability assess cognitive functions as reasoning, attention, learning, comprehension and memory, as well as general intelligence in children. ASIS assessment provides information about children's intellectual level, strengths and weakness. Data for this thesis was collected in a pilot study that was carried out to test the ASIS items. Participants included 338 ten and eleven year-old students from two schools in the City of Eskisehir. Students' grade ranged from third to sixth. Data was collected during students' regular school hours. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis were used to determine the construct validity of the ASIS. Internal consistency reliability was calculated to evaluate the reliability of the ASIS. For the item analysis of ASIS in the pilot study, item difficulty indices and item discrimination indices were calculated. In addition, one-way MANOVA was condacted to explore whether there were gender differences in the ASIS subtests. Item difficulty indices for age 10 were found to be between 0.00 and 1.00, and item difficulty indices for age 11was found to be between 0.02 and 1.00. Item discrimination indices for age 10 were found to be between -0.08 and 0.83, and item discrimination indices for age11was found to be between 0.00 and 0.82. The findings of the exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis showed that there were a strong relationship between general intelligence and verbal reasoning besides between working memory and visual-spatial ability. The study provided strong evidence in terms of the ASIS's reliability and validity. Keywords: Anadolu-Sak Intelligence Scale, ASIS, item analysis
