An investigation of the criterion validity of Anadolu Sak İntelligence Scale (ASİS) : The EPTS case

In this research, the criterion validity of ASIS (Anadolu Sak Intelligence Test) was examined. In the research, a relational screening model was used. The research was conducted with 153 students. 30 of them were identified as gifted. 123 of them were selected by systemic sampling among those who were not identified as gifted. Intelligence levels of the students were obtained by using ASIS and talent and creativity scores were obtained from the MAT (Math Ability Test) and CSAT (Creative Scientific Ability Test). In the t-test performed within the scope of discriminant validity, a significant difference was found between the group identified as gifted and the group not identified as gifted in terms of mean general intelligence scores. Indiscriminate function analysis conducted to investigate the validity of group discrimination, ASIS correctly classified 84.3% of participants as gifted and non-gifted. As a result of the Pearson Moments Multiplication Correlation Analysis conducted within the scope of compliance validity, a significant relationship was found between the general intelligence score and MAT and CSAT scores (rEPTS = .77; rMAT = 72; rCSAT = .55; p <.001, n=131). Multiple linear regression analysis was performed within the scope of predictive validity. The order of relative significance of the predictive variables on the identification score of the Education Programs for Talented Students Model (EPTS) is the verbal potential index (β = 0.478), visual potential index (β = 0.264) and memory capacity index (β = 0.253). As a result, additional evidence of criterion validity of ASIS was obtained.
