İnvestigation of human figures used in Anatolian Seljuk tile art and new design proposals for the present

In this study, human figures used in Anatolian Seljuk Tile Art are discussed. Firstly, historical process is mentioned and the figures which is used in this period, are examined one by one. The process of tile architecture which first began in architecture, then began to take place on the walls of palace. Tile decoration is very common in Anatolian Seljuk Period both in terms of architectural set and decoration of palace walls. The use of human and animal figures and vegetal motifs in Anatolian Seljuk tiles draws attention to the fact that Turkish Art has been an on going cultural tradition since the earliest ages. The human figures used in this period are very important because they provide information about the clothing style and culture of the period. Although the style of clothing of the period shows some changes, traces are still seen today. The main reason for choosing this subject was the aesthetics of the compositions as well as the richness of color and pattern of the period. Especially the intense decoration used in architecture left its mark on the period and based on these rich examples, it was very useful in the selection of the composition I applied within the scope of the thesis. These Works which occured as a result of the researches made on the basis of all the richness of Anatolian Seljuk Tile Art is aimed to contribute development of aesthetic understanding of contemporary tile art and to the continuation of this art.
