Abstract (EN)
It may said that prior to coming within the Islamic cultural orbit the life styles, belief systems and related art of the Turks were quite different; and Seljuk embellishments, which in a sense echo this process, constitute an original artistic sphere created in the milieu which the Turks entered after their conversion to Islam.Geometric ornaments in the Anatolian Turkish-Islamic monuments have survived through long periods with various regional styles. Geometric designs have always been a part of architectural facades. However, the actual influence of these designs coincided with the Golden Age in the 12th and 13th century. Especially, the geometric compositions in the 13th century show us that the highest level of art was achieved in the Anatolian monuments. In Anatolia, the customs, regional techniques and craftsmanship of ancient Middle East, Far East and Turkey congregated in the 12th and 13th century. The Seljuk?s were affected by all kinds of concepts that results from beliefs or customs. The Seljuk?s presents a modern vision as a master of historical syntheses. The Seljuk ornaments that put a new face upon the art of ornaments became a source to the practices in the scope of this synthesis. Especially, in the systems named as ?Star Systems?; the motifs, taking place in the surface of urns, panels and figurative ceramic sculpture, were used in order to symbolize the infinity. Keywords: Anatolian Seljuk?s, ornament, ceramic, geometric motif.
