Examination of Anatolia Seljuk and Ottoman architecture through examples in Turkey

This study has been prepared in order to show the similarities and differences between the cultural assets of the Seljuk and Ottoman periods, which have been the subject of many scientific studies. The aim of these comparisons is to provide more accurate information for the restoration projects to be carried out in the works of the two periods. Another aim is to study different solutions to similar problems and adapt them to the present day. In addition to studying the history of Anatolian and Turkish architecture, the buildings have been divided into groups by means of sample works and these groups have been compared within themselves. In the comparisons, factors such as plans, facades, building materials, ornamentation and design factors of the works built in the specified periods were taken into account, rather than just a technique, a particular period or a type of building group. In the examples analysed, it was found that the Ottoman Empire was at the forefront of capital city architecture, but the Seljuks spread throughout Anatolia and left works behind. The important contributions of both states to Turkish Islamic architecture have been observed.
