Horacio Quiroga'nın gotik hikayelerindeki korku öğelerinin analizi

Gothic literature is a literary genre that first emerged in England in the 18th century and became popular from the late 18th century until the late 19th century as a reaction to the movement rationalism. Gothic works never have a happy ending or have a moral. Gothic literature mainly feeds on horror and exalts the ugly, the abnormal, the irrational, the occult and the mysterious. This study aims to analyze the monstrous elements in the stories Fantasía Nerviosa, Para Noche de Insomnio, La Gallina Degollada and El Almohadón de Plumas written by Horacio Quiroga and associate them with the characteristics of 19th century's Gothic Literature. The monstrous elements with the theme of death are reflected in different forms in each story. The objective of this investigation is to discover the monstrous elements in each story and analyze how and to what extend these elements exist. The death, the supernatural events, the madness, the violence and the abnormality are the inevitable themes for Quiroga because he suffered from several violent deaths throughout his life. The work aims to discover the elements that "the horror", the main objective of the Gothic literature, is transferred along the stories and to see at what level these selected stories can be categorized within the 19th century Gothic literature.
