Abstract (EN)

The main objective of this study is to establish a new perspective on talent selection in the bowling branch using the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method. For this purpose, in line with the survey conducted with the national team coaches of various countries participating in the international bowling organization, the preferences regarding which criteria are prioritized in the natural talent selection process that can be made in the bowling branch were examined. The data obtained as a result of the surveys were analyzed with AHS calculations in the Excel software, one of the Microsoft Office, and converted into tables. Obtained results; According to the weight analysis of the sub-criteria under the 4 main criteria determined for the bowling branch; When the main criteria are taken into consideration first, the main criterion of cognitive characteristics is in the first place according to the weight ratios (wi). Then, it is seen that there are psycho-social characteristics, motoric characteristics, and anthropometric and physical characteristics, respectively. When the sub-criteria related to the main criteria are examined, the sub-criterion with the highest percentage of cognitive characteristics is auto-control, while the least sub-criteria is problem solving skill. While the most important sub-criterion based on psycho-social characteristics is self-confidence, the least sub-criterion is extrovert personality trait. While the sub-criteria with the highest percentage of weight based on motoric characteristics is balance and coordination, the least sub-criteria is anaerobic power. Finally, among the sub-criteria related to anthropometric and physical characteristics, the highest percentage of weight is body weight, while the lowest sub-criteria is skin thickness and circumference measurements. In general, the most important criteria for talent selection in bowling are self-control, focusing, and, balance and coordination.
