Abstract (EN)

The bank activities make it operating in an environment that is very exposed to risks. To resist, banks must always be adapted to this environment or disappear. Thus risk management becomes for banks a major concern. Hence the strategic place that risks are occupying today in their organization. The financial world was rocked by incessant financial crises. Indeed, those of previous years could explain the need that was felt at that moment, to focus more rigorously to risks including the implementation of the Basel Committee to regulate the activities of financial institutions. Indeed, the internationalization of banking has led the monetary authorities in different countries (internationally) to think about the definition of prudential rules common for banks. Difficulties that arose in previous years in terms of sovereign risk aroused the adoption, under the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), through the Basel Committee, prudential ratios to ensure the solvency of banks. The risk inherent in the banking sector is characterized by its multiplicity and its multidimensional nature that cannot be measured by a single indicator. Turning to Africa, banking is regulated in the countries of the West African Monetary Union WAMU by a uniform law on banking regulations and the Convention governing the WAMU Banking Commission. The objective of our work is firstly, to make an overview of the risks in the banking sphere in general, through a review of the various regulations. And in a second step, refer to a practical case to see how the risks are supported. For this we refer to the case of International Bank for Africa BIA-Niger.
