Abstract (EN)

English language has been considered as a lingua franca which is essential not only for communication but also it has a crucial role in the enormous scientific, cultural, economic and political developments. The Turkish people are aware of the importance of learning English. Thereby, they spend long times to study and learn English, but they can't reach the level that is expected from them. That situation is based on a number of factors making their work harder. The purpose of the present study is to investigatethat the anxiety the preparatory school students experience in the foreign language learning process and its relationship with seven different variables. 150 preparatory school students participated the study. The data was analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences software (SPSS), version 21.0. The data gathered revealed that the students experience foreign language anxiety and there is a negative correlation foreign language anxiety and the seven variables. In other words, foreign language anxiety doesn't have any positive effect on the variables. Contrarily, it revealed that it causes loss of motivation in the students. It shows that more importance should be given foreign language anxiety in language learning clasrooms.
