Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to identify of the 5-6 age group attending pre-school education in the administrative center of Duzce also to evaluate how the effectiveness of the identification methods. The study had four phases. The first and second stage involved the administration of the TOF (Teachers Observation Form) and FOF (Families Observation Form) respectively, for purposes of specifying the children who were nominated on being gifted both by the teachers and families. The third and the fourth satege consisted of the administration of the Primary Mental Abilities Test 5-7 (PMAT) and Goodenough-Harris Draw A Man Test respectively, fort he purpose of assesing general cognitive performance. Of the 50 children who gifted 16 (14 boys and 2 girls) were nominated by both parents and teachers and 34 (17 boys and 17 girls) were nominated by parents only from 113 sample groups of research. Although the majority of the gifted children had been nominated by the parents; the test scores showed the teachers? evaluations to be closer to the childrens? performance. There were no significant correlations between PMAT 5-7 Primary Mental Abilities Test and Goodenough-Harris Draw A Man test scores.
