Abstract (EN)

Bringing scientists and artists together, medical illustration has succeeded in transferring medical knowledge to the future and has become an area of interest with this interdisciplinary partnership. The illustration used for medical science aims to convey the information to the audience accurately and clearly. Illustration shown within the design area; It contributes to graphic design education by taking place in preschool, primary school, secondary school, high school and university textbooks. Likewise, the field of medical illustration; aims to introduce itself to large masses and to contribute to design and medical science. The third edition of Frank H. Netter's book "Atlas of Human Anatomy", the first edition of which was published in 1989, was published in 2003. Atlas of Human Anatomy 3rd edition features eight Netter-style illustrations created by Carlos AG Machado and MD, as well as Netter's own 543 sharp and beautifully rendered drawings. For the sample of the study, a total of twenty-nine illustrations were selected from different sections and different anatomy regions in the 3rd edition of the book "Atlas of Human Anatomy". For the universe of the study, the history of the book, the principles and elements of graphic design, the history of illustration, the types and functions of illustration, the history of medical illustration, anatomy in art, illustration education in international and in Turkey were examined as a result of the collection of valid documents and resources. Illustration analysis methods, graphic design principles and elements were taken into consideration in the examples analyzed by descriptive analysis method.
