Abstract (EN)

Objective: In patients with CKD, even in cases that are asymptomatic, elevation of troponin I can be seen. How significant these increased values are should be discussed. In our project we firstly tried to determine how significant high troponin I values are. Secondly the relationship between these values and the risk of mortality (with it's causes) and thirdly between what ranges troponin I has a significant effect on mortality . Materials and Methods: This project was conducted in the İnönü University Turgut Ozal Medical Center's Nephrology Department on patients in Intensive care unit (ICU) and Nephrology Clinics between January 2009- January 2014. The troponin I values of 395 CKD patients were obtained . In the cases where the patient passed away during the project, the date of death was recorded . Patients were divided into five groups according to their troponin I values. The group with normal Troponin I levels were compared to the other groups in terms of mortality risk. Results: 50% of all patients had died. It was found that Troponin I values over 0.1 were associated with mortality. It was found that troponin values between 0.1 to 0.99 with all it's related causes increases mortality risk by 2.1 fold. Troponin I values over 5 increased mortality risk 4.7-fold. Whilst the relationship between troponin I levels and the risk of mortality proved to be quite significant in the earlier months, this relationship began to decrease after the 6th month . Conclusion: It should not be overlooked that in patients with CKD, even those that are asymptomatic, troponin I values of 0.1 µg/land greater carry increased risk of mortality with it's related causes and therefore these values should frequently be obtained.
