Evaluation of woody plant asset in Altinpark, Ankara

Today, where a large part of the population lives in cities, the desire to be close to nature, which is among the important needs of people, has also emerged. It can be said that urban open-green spaces are one of the most basic components that directly affect the quality of life of the citizens for both physical health and mental relaxation. Urban parks serve their visitors as the most important open-green spaces in big cities. The presence and diversity of woody plants is of particular importance for urban parks. In this research, natural and exotic woody plants used in landscaping in Altınpark, one of the city parks in Ankara, were examined. As a research method, on-site observation, examination, analysis and evaluation stages were used. In this context, woody plants used in the park were identified by observing in situ. In addition, Altınpark city park was visited in various periods for research purposes and seasonal photographs of woody plants were taken at different seasons. Observations and verbal databases were used effectively in the preparation and evaluation of the data. As a result of the evaluation of the obtained data, the usage densities of woody plant taxa on the basis of genus and species were determined. It has been observed that the most commonly used broad-leaved species in Altınpark urban park afforestation are Acer negundo, Platanus occidentalis, and Pinus nigra, the most commonly used coniferous species. The compatibility of some ecological demands of the plants with the ecological characteristics of the area where Altınpark is located has been evaluated and various suggestions have been made. It is thought that the findings obtained from this study will form a basis for future studies.
