Surgical retrospective examination of knee joint diseases of cats brought to some veterinary clinics in Ankara

In this study, by examining the x-ray records of some clinics in the Ankara region, the number of x-rays concerning only the knee joint in cats was determined as 400 out of 2200 orthopedic cases and examined. 95 x-ray images could not be included in the study because they could not be clearly distinguished. 89 cases were determined by obtaining the opinions of clinicians from 305 x-ray images of patients between the ages of 1-15. 44.9% of the total 89 cases were female and 55.1% were male cats. Among the most common diseases, patellar luxation (53.1% male, 46.9% female) and osteoarthritis (55% male, 45% female) were seen at similar rates in both sexes, but a slight increase was detected in males. Especially distal femur fractures (60% female), connective tissue-derived tumors, medial collateral ligament and patellar ligament ruptures were observed only in females; however, some specific pathologies such as patellar fractures, patellar-derived tumors, chondropathy and synovitis were reported only in males.
