The problems encountered by the furniture and decoration firm in Ankara and their solution proposal

In this study; the aim is to determine in which fields the furniture and decoration firms work and what kind of problems they encounter and after determining the problem the purpose is to bring solution proposals to the problems that the sector is faced with. With this purpose, a ?research survey? was made within 51 randomly chosen businesses in Ankara. 24 of these surveys were made in businesses at the region of Siteler and 27 were made within the region of Çankaya. According to the results of the survey the main problems of the furniture and decoration firms consists of insufficiency of raw materials, the fact that there is no standard for raw materials and production, difficulty in reaching technological developments, the fact that most of the designs are being copied from catalogues or the internet, no production plans are being made for works that are made by order, insufficiency and deficiency of creative and productive personnel, insufficient resources for effective advertising and finally the financial problems that are caused by the economical crisis. As a result, appropriate contemporary working conditions and the developments in our country and the world should be considered with the general likings in designs when actualizing these works, also research and development units must be established. The developments in the communication world help small firms to continue the race amongst the big firms by imitating their products. Legal arrangements should be made to prevent this.
