Abstract (EN)
Especially,in big cities,many road constructions occur,on this roads as the quality of aggregate increases,the tenantship(usage time) also increases.So,aggregates used in road construction and hot bituminous mixture is important. Furthermore,selection of those materials affects tenantship of road directly. For this reason,alongside the compliance of standarts of aggregate and hot bituminous mixture qualitative classification is necessary ,as well. one of the basic ways of decreasing the costs of asphalt production and road construction is choosing the true mine from which aggregates to be taken. In that thesis study,it is aimed to determine the most suitable stone pit area which is the most suitable for standarts of road construction necessary of AnkaraProvince. It is aimed to classify the stone pits,from which aggregates used to produce hot bituminous mixture, according to compliance of standarts. In accordance with this purpose,road aggregates have been provided from six different crushed-stone plants providing aggregate for road constructions of Ankara city centre. On these aggregate samples,experiments of specific weight,unit weight,sieve analysis,water-logging,Los Angeles and freezing-thawing have been carried out. Besides,in order to determine characteristic of hot bituminous mixture,Marsshal stability and flow test have been carried out. In consequence of these experiments,datas have been interpreted and the most suitable aggregates according to the standarts have been determined.As a result of experiments,physical characteristics of aggregates produced in quarry area has been determined and some analysis for detection of availability of asphalt concrete when kneaded (mixed) with bitume have been carried out. A comparison system has been formed between road aggregates by producing a grading system between samples taken from six different quarry areas. By this way,aggregates used in road constructions of Ankara city centre have been classified .As a result of this classification,a choosing criteria will be easily done in planned road constructions according to intended properties. By using this choosing criteria in this thesis study,selection of aggregate for hot bituminous mixture will be used for many other different studies.Moreover,thanks to this determination of the most suitable aggregate,in planned road constructions or road repairments,works will be long-lasting and costs will be reduced.
