Abstract (EN)

In this study, Educational activities in Ankara Province during the II.Abdülhamid Period, and the reflection of these developments on the Ankara Province as a result of the widespread use of civil education institutions after the Tanzimat Period are discussed. Educational institutions such as madrasah, primary school, junior high school, high school, non-Muslim schools within the borders of Ankara Province were determined by using the Education Yearbooks, Ankara Provincial Yearbooks and State Yearbooks. State Archives Catalogs and Turkish Grand National Assembly Library were used. The numbers of schools, teachers and students in Ankara Province are presented in a statistical order. It is aimed to contribute to the History of Ankara and Ottoman Education by conveying information such as the names of the teachers in the schools and the courses they taught. In the fist part of the research ,which consists of three parts apart from the introduction part, the administrative units of Ankara Province are introduced and given as sanjak and district names. In the second part, the Ottoman Education History is explained as the classical period and the Tanzimat period, and the school types and course curricula of the period are explained. In the last part of the thesis, all educational institutions in Ankara Province were tried to be explained under separate headings for each sancak. In the conclusion part, the reflections of the innovations in the field of education that started in the Tanzimat Period in the Ankara Province are tried to be evaluated.
