A field study related to the problems of construction control

Earthquakes are one of the most devastating and effective natural disasters. As it is a well known fact that 95 % of the population and 92 % of the and of our country are on earthquake zones.Indirect effects of earthquakes on humans are very dangerous. Casualties and material losses due to collapsing of man made structures which are poorly constructed, during earthquakes constituted these dangers.Developed societies of today?s word gathered important progress by thinking that poorly constructed structures cause damage to humans not the earthquake itself, and they learn to live with earthquakes.Building control concept is a very old topic. In our country government started necessary studies and building control system was significantly changed after 1999 earthquake.The building control law numbered as 4708 and by printing on official gazette at 13 July 2001 and regulations of building control applications and rules were prepared for control and reliability of buildings. Law and related regulations started to be applied on selected 19 city. After this stage it was started to be applied an the whale country, on January 01, 2011.In this study first building control concept, its purpose and history was examined. Information about building control system of Turkey was given by examining other countries. Finally for the purpose of evaluating problems of building control companies in Ankara an inquiry study was performed with building control companies of Ankara.
