Materials and methods: 122 patients with ankylosing spondylitis in an ongoing follow-up were included in the study. Patients were divided into two groups according to the Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index due to sleep quality, including patients with good sleep quality and bad sleep quality. Patients were questioned about age, sex, height, weight, marital status, educational status, date of diagnosis, diagnosis center, medical treatments they receive to date, treatment-related side effects, surgery and other known chronic diseases. In addition, CBC, ALT, AST, BUN, creatinine, sedimentation, CRP values of these patients were recorded in the case report form. Patients were evaluated by VAS, short form-36 (SF-36), International RLS Study Group (IRLSSG) criteria survey, Beck depression, Beck anxiety, BASMI, BASFI and BASDAI scales. Groups were compared with the results obtained from the scale. Results: There were higher rates of poor sleep quality and restless legs syndrome in patients compared to the general population. There were statistically significant differences in pain, quality of life, depression, anxiety, BASFI and BASDAI scores between the groups. There were no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of BASMI and of restless legs syndrome. Conclusion: It was detected that sleep disorders are common in patients with AS and these disorders were found to be closely associated with pain, disease activity, anxiety, depression, poor quality of life and functional status based on these findings. Also it was concluded that restless legs syndrome is a common situation in patients with AS. Keywords: Ankylosing spondylitis, sleep quality, quality of life, restless legs
