Abstract (EN)
In this research, it is aimed to determine the factors affecting the relationship between postpartum comfort level and breastfeeding self suffiency in mothers giving new-born babiesFor the cross–sectional, descriptive study, the universe was formed by postpartum mothers (0 – 6 weeks) in Diyarbakir Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital between February and April 2017 . In the research data, there are questions about the maternal socio-demographic characteristics, Postpartum Comfort Scale (PCS), the Breastfeeding Self Suffiency Scale (BSSS) and the mother's pregnancy experiences. (PCS) and (BSSS) average score of the mothers with the total number of pregnancies and the number of children with five or more children were found to be significantly higher than the mothers who had fewer children and pregnancy experience(p<0,05).Mothers who delivered caesarean birth compared to those who had normal delivery and those whose first gestational age was 27 or more had lower Breastfeeding Self Suffiency Scale (BSSS) (p<0,05).A weak positive correlation was determined between postpartum comfort and breastfeeding self suffiency (p;0,05 r:0,178). There was a weak positive correlation between breastfeeding self suffiency and physical comfort and socio-cultural comfort which are subscales of BSSS, but there was no correlation between breastfeeding self suffiency and psycho spiritual comfort Postpartum mothers' postnatal comfort was found to be an effective factor on breastfeeding self suffiency.
