Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACTObjective: This study of mothers feeding their children with intellectual disabilities and non-related attitudes, belief, practices and was designed to compare the factors affecting.Meterial and Method: Data of the study ? Socio-Demographic Questionnaire? and ? Parents? Child Nutrition Related Attitudes, Beliefs, Practices Questionnaire? was obtained. Evaluation of demographic data points, percentage calculations were used Assessment of the study's t test, Mann-Whidney U Test, Krusskal-Wallis test and Bonferroni-corrected Mann-Whitney U test was used.Results: The research group of 2-12 years with intellectual disabilities (n=42) with intellectual disabilities and their siblings (n=42) was used. The mean age of the children, 6.8 ± 2.7, respectively. Children, 55.6% (n=47) were male and 44.4% of them (n=37) of the females. 45% of individuals with intellectual disabilities (n=19) had mild, 17% (n=7) medium and 38% (n=16), severely mentally inadequate. The mothers feeding their children with intellectual disabilities and non-statistically significant difference was found between perceived responsibility (p=0.000). Perceived child weight by age of mothers of children with a statistically significant difference (p=0.000). Mothers' perceptions of children aged 7-12 years is more than weight. Mothers according to their age, weight-related concerns of children whose mothers had a statistically significant difference (p=0.033). Mothers with mentally handicapped children in the age group of 20-29 with the weight they were more concerned about the 30-39 age group mothers (0.013).Conclusions: In this study, children with intellectual disabilities about nutrition deficiency feels more responsibility than children without mothers, mothers who perceive more than the weight of the children aged 7-12 and 20-29 age group of mothers of children with mental deficiency that they were more concerned about weight. Further studies in this regard can be made for the future.Key words: intellectual disabilities, nutrition, child
