Intergenerational comparison of women's motherhood experiences: The case of Manisa

The aim of the study is to compare the perceptions, attitudes and experiences of female interviewees who are mothers of three generations from the same family in Manisa. In this study, how the experiences of motherhood among generations differ, whether their experiences differ over time, and their perspectives on motherhood were tried to be understood. In order to do this, at what age women got married and had children, breastfeeding care experiences, their next social life as a mother, the meaning they attribute to motherhood, the extensions of knowledge about motherhood, their strengths and weaknesses in their motherhood experiences, their relationships with their child, their relationships with their own mothers, the issues they have difficulty in child care, and by whom they had been supported were analyzed among three generations in term of simillarities and differences. In the research, in-depth semi structured interviews were conducted with a total of 45 mothers who were chosen by snowball sampling technique which is non probabilistic. 15 of the women is the youngest generation, 15 of them is middle generation and 15 of them is eldest generation. MAXQDA 2022 and SPSS 20 programs were used in the analysis of the data.
