Anselm Kiefer's art

In today's social values and art, the effects of the social upheavals and wars in the 20th century, caused radical changes. At the same time, the rapid spread of technological developments has led to the formation of different levels of perception in the art due to the questioning of the past which is effective in the construction of the future. The themes of German history, especially the issues of the Holocaust, enriched Kiefer's world of concepts. Kiefer brought the issues confrontation with the past and taboos into his studies. These topics includes the themes used by German romanticism and the 3rd Reich Period of Nazi Germany. Kiefer thinks that the essential way to build the future is through confronting the dark past of German society. The themes covered by the artist are mythology, iconology, symbols, historical figures, mythological figures and their signs in history. In this thesis, I tried to clarify the art world created by Anslem Kiefer, who defined his art in the new expressionist art, and created controversial paintings and sculptures which still continue to influence contemporary art.
