Özet (EN)

İNGİLİZCE ÖZETComparison of conventional surgery with loop recessionPurpose: To compare the results of conventional surgery and loop recession in patients with esotropia and exotropia. Methods: In a prospective chart study, 168 patients who were operated for exotropia or exotropia and had at least 3 months follow-up, divided into two groups as conventional surgery and loop recession. There was no significiant differences between two groups in age and sex . The mean preoperative deviation was higher in loop recession group than conventional group (p= 0,01). The mean postoperative deviations were not statistically significiant (p= 0,245). The differences between preoperative and postoperative deviations are 34 ? ±16 in conventional group, 49 ? ±20 in loop recession group, and statistically significiant (p=0,01). The mean recessions were 6,09 mm ±0,811 in conventional group and 9,94 mm ±0,733 in loop recession group (p=0,01). Success rates were similar in two groups ( %72 in conventional group, % 76 in loop recession group, overall %73). In lower deviations (< 50?) success rates were similar between groups (loop recession % 87, conventional surgery % 84, p=0.742), but in greater deviations more than 50 ?, success rates were better than conventional group and statistically significiant (loop recession % 70, conventional surgery %34, p=0.05).Conclusion: Loop recession allows higher recessions more than conventional surgery in one surgery so it is more effective than conventional surgery especially in high deviations.
