ABSTRACT DETERMINATION OF THE SOME PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF SOILS IN THE GREENHOUSE OF CARNATION IN THE ANTALYA REGION Filiz ÖKTÜREN M.Sc. Thesis in Soil Science Adviser: Asst. Prof. Dr. Zeki ALAGÖZ August 2004, 72 pages In this research some physical and chemical properties of soils in the greenhouse of carnation in the Antalya region were determined and, the relationships between these soil properties were analysed. For this purpose, disturbed and undisturbed soil samples, at 0-10cm and 10-20cm soil depths, were taken from 30 different greenhouses in the different regions. Soil texture, organic matter, lime content, electrical conductivity, cation exchange capacity, aggregate size distribution, soil reaction, field capacity, wilting point, available water content and bulk density of the soil samples were analysed. Analyses results showed that there were important differences between soil properties of the different regions. Generally, the most of soil samples were found to be light alkalin and alkalin, extremely calcerous, poor and little humus in organic matter, light and modaretely electrical conductivity and mostly Clay loam and Sandy loam textured. The soil samples showed that there were important difference between soil properties in the same unit and units in the different regionsof the companies depending on the aggregate size distribution, field capacity, wilting point, available water content and bulk density of soil.
