Abstract (EN)
This thesis aims to determine whether there exists a difference in the state-trait anxiety levels of athletes engaged in team and individual sports. The study intended to examine whether the state and trait anxiety levels of athletes vary based on variables such as gender, age, duration in sport, type of sport, nationality status, and the financial situation of the family. The research sample comprised 127 athletes involved in individual sports and 117 in team sports located in Antalya in 2023. Out of these, 117 are female and 127 are male. This study employed the State and Trait Anxiety Scale developed by Spielberger, Luschene, and Gorsuch in 1970, which was later validated, tested for reliability, and translated into Turkish by Öner and Le Compte in 1983. According to the study's findings, the state and trait anxiety levels of individuals participating in both team and individual sports do not differ based on gender, age, duration in sport, nationality status, or family income level. Upon examining the state and trait anxiety levels of individuals engaged in team sports by the sport category, no significant difference was observed across these categories. However, when analyzing the state and trait anxiety levels of individuals in individual sports by their respective sports categories, it was found that athletes in archery, boxing, and muay thai exhibited higher state anxiety compared to those in shooting. No significant difference was observed in the state-trait anxiety levels of athletes based on the type of sport
