Abstract (EN)

Throughout the historical process, the desire of different communities and individuals to transfer the important events and life practices of their own era to the next generation has created monuments. Monuments that transfer the history, socio-economic structure and cultural values of their period to the next generation are the tools that witness the changing life dynamics over time and transfer these experiences to the next generation. These structures, which are historical documents, need to be protected in order to make the cultural heritage sustainable. Elmalı district has hosted different civilizations in different periods throughout the historical process. The town of Elmalı, where the city formation started with the Turkification of Anatolia, has carried the culture it adopted to the present day. The mosques, bazaars and baths it contains are witnesses of the formation and development of this culture. In order for Elmalı's urban identity to be passed on to generations, its monumental structures that reflect its cultural values must be preserved. Within the scope of the thesis study, the registered / unregistered or unregistered monumental structures in Elmalı district center will be examined and conservation problems will be determined. In the light of the examinations made, suggestions will be presented to protect the cultural value of Elmalı and to transfer it to the next generation. KEYWORDS: conservation problems, cultural value, Elmalı, Monumental structure
