Abstract (EN)

In this study, we aim to delineate agricultural areas, conservation areas and urban areas, in Kepez district, pivotal regions of Antalya province, with the LUCIS (Land-Use Conflict Identification Strategy) model and to analyse the conflicts between them. Land-use conflict is determined by comparing the suitability level for each of the different land-use categories within a given land unit. For this purpose, a conflict model was created using raster and vector datasets of the region. The LUCIS model is a raster-based model developed using ArcGIS Model Builder and provides a method for analysing land use suitability and conflict. The model does not make predictions about future land use, but analyses which land in the region is suitable for urban development, which land should be set aside for soil conservation, and which land is suitable for agricultural production. In this thesis study conducted in Kepez district, LUCIS modelling was used to first determine the suitability and then the conflict areas in the agriculture, conservation and settlement categories in the region. According to the output results obtained from the study, it was determined that the high conflict areas within the district boundaries of 314.52 km2 were 20.12 km2 and these areas constituted 6.41% of the total district area. The lowest conflict areas in the region were determined as 73.37 km2 and these areas cover 23.37% of the total area. According to the results of the analysis, it was revealed that the high conflict areas in the study area are distributed in the northern part of the district and concentrated in the Varsak region. Başköy and its surroundings, which is in the northernmost part of the area and is more of a rural area, has the characteristics of a low conflict area. The moderate conflict areas identified in the analysis results are Gaziler, Çamlıca, Kirişçiler, north-west of Kızıllı Neighbourhood and the areas around Düden Stream. As a result of the study, it was revealed that there are significant risks in the conflict areas determined by the LUCIS model, especially in the medium degree areas, and that the works to be carried out in the region should be carefully planned within the framework of sustainable land management planning.
