ABSTRACT VIRTUAL ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECTS OF YACHT TOURISM ON THE BENTIC MACRO FAUNA AND FLORA IN THE GULF OF ANTALYA M. Sc. Thesis, Department of Aquatic Engineering Adviser: Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet GÖKO?LU May 2005, 60 Pages The research is done through scuba dives at the designated stations. The dives were done 15 days periods and the changes underneath were monitored. It is detected that the random use of anchors and chains drastically damages the sea eco-system and the historical texture. It is essential to apply appropriate vaulting system at islands, bays and coasts where yacht tourism is present, and also a more tactful way of working by the personnel and the people who are involved in tourism for a better surrounding and historical texture. With this work we aimed to point out the damage done to the eco-system at the bottom of the sea by the improper yacht tourism and to show more proper and tactful ways of yacht tourism.
