The Helminth fauna of tailless frog species (Ordo:Anura) distributed in Antalya

ABSTRACT THE HELMINTH FAUNA OF TAILLESS FROG SPECIES (ORDO: ANURA) DISTRIBUTED IN ANTALYA SERDAR DÜŞEN Ph. D. Thesis in Biology Adviser : Prof. Dr. Mehmet ÖZ June 2003, 116 pages In this study, helminth fauna of the six tailless frog species (Bttfo bufo, B. viridis, Hyla arborea, Rana camerani, R. macrocnemis and R. ridibunda) which distributed in Antalya and around were comprised. Between February 2001 - December 2002, 421firog samples were examined and 21 helminth species were determined. These helmint species are as follows: two of them Monogenea {Polystoma viridis, Polystoma skrjabini), 12 of them Digenea (Codonocephalus urniger, Diplodiscus subclavatus, Gorgoderina vitelliloba, Gorgodera cygnoides, Pleurogenoides medians, Prosotocus confusus, Brachycoelium salamandrae, Haplometra cylindracea, Haematoloechus breviansa, Encyclometra colubrimurorum, Dolichosaccus rastellus, Opisthioglyphe ranae), one of them Cestoda (Proteocephalus sp.), one of them Acanthocephala {Acanthocephalus ranae) and 5 of them Nematoda {Rhabdias bufonis, Cosmocerca commutata, Neoxysomatium sp., Eustrongylides sp. ve Abbreviata sp). The purpose of the present study is to contributed which is determined to the helminth fauna of the Turkey tailless frogs. Polystoma skrjabim, Haplometra cylindracea, Encyclometra colubrimurorum and Dolichosaccus rastellus are new records for the frogs in Turkey. Also, Brachycoelium salamandrae in K ridibunda, Pleurogenoides medians in R. camerani and Pleurogenoides medians, Acanthocephalus ranae and Cosmocerca commutata in H. arborea as new host for these parasites in Turkey. In additionaly, Encyclometra colubrimurorum and Abbreviata sp in R, ridibunda, Encyclometra colubrimurorum in H. arborea as new intermediate host records for these parasites.
