Abstract (EN)

"Mountain Cult in Antiquity; "Argaios Example", the mountain cult was discussed in many different periods and cultures in Antiquity and this religious approach was clarified. Throughout human history, human beings have believed that everything in the universe was created by a sacred power. For them, the creator must surely live in the infinity of the sky. In this context, mountains were chosen as the closest places to God. Sometimes it was thought of as the god herself, sometimes as a staircase through which she connected with the world, and sometimes even as the place where it lived. Due to the human soul's desire to be close to the sacred, the places where they made various offerings and prayed were definitely mountains. Within the scope of the thesis, the mountain cult belief in Mesopotamian and Anatolian cultures was discussed and studies on the sanctity of mountains were included in the light of archaeological, numismatic and ancient-modern sources. Finally, Mount Argaios, which has an important belief system for many cultures, is discussed both religiously and iconographically, and its religious importance is supported by various information.
