Özet (EN)
Black Sea Region is a geographical place which has been the scene of a settlement since ancient times. In this region, there was a local culture before Greek colonization. We learn from the ancient authors the pirates in Kilikya had been active before the Greek sailors in this huge wavy sea. Yet, Black Sea became active through the people coming from Greece and having colonies here. The Greek sailors sailed into Black Sea to get the gold sources of Colchis Region with Argonauts expedition and Gold Post leged. It is generally accepted that 7th. century B.C. was the date of these sailors sailed into Black Sea. In Hellenistic Period it was the Pontus State which affected the geography and the period. Pontus State is also called Mithridates, name of their kings. After the collapse of Pontus State, the Roman Empire became dominant in the region. After division of Roman Empire in 395 the region was included in the border of Eastern Rome, namely Byzans Empire. Black Sea Region had economical, geopolitical and strategic importance and these properties were used by the dominant states to the end of time.KEYWORDSBlack Sea, Khalybes, Amazons, Kotyora, Argonauts.
