Özet (EN)

Glykon Cult which had been founded in Abonuteikhos/Ionopolis city by a fakeprophet named as Aleksandros from Abonuteikhos. The Cult which especially took itsfeatures from well-rooted cults of Ancient World, created new features and itscombinations. Thus, it came into prominence among the contemporary cult as one of themost popular cults in Roman Empire. The cult survived lively for two hundred years.Glykon Cult became effective through a wide geography within its popularity inits age. In the light of epigraphic, archaeological and numismatic evidence, its spreadcan be investigated clearly. In this study, new evidence has been added to the evidenceof the related literature.The adaption of Glykon Cult after Roman Period composes an important part ofthis study. In relation to this issue, Byzantine Period, especially the Turkish-Islamicperiods of Paphlagonia region and popular memory within present folk traditions in thearea has triesd to be followed.
