The visual cultural codes for the Anatolian jewelry in Ancient Period

From past to present, people have been pinning jewelry on clothing to make themselves look more glamorous, to reflect their beliefs, and to convey messages to those around them. Jewelry belonging to societies, not only gives information about the traditions of a period, but also introduces technical characteristics, architectural approaches, economical standards and art attitudes when the form and craftsmanship are analyzed technologically, alongside its development and socio-cultural and psychological approaches. That is to say; jewelry is an object that demonstrates life standards, philosophy and techniques of societies in a basic form. The aim of this study is to examine the communicative language, visual codes, and cultural reflections of Ancient Period Anatolian jewelry.The method of the study consists of a literature review, comparative information and hypothesis analysis from different disciplinarians. In this respect, there have been many researches and literature reviews from past to present to be able to reach the conclusion.Key Words: Communication, Visual Culture, Identity, Symbol, Anatolian Jewelries.
