Abstract (EN)
Bleeding and segregation are two main problems which come into existence in the production of castable refractories and casting moulds. This existence of bleeding and segregation causes variation of mechanical and thermal properties of castable refractories and casting moulds. Bleeding and segregation can be minimized by controlling the particle size and distribution parameters and by using anti-bleeding additive. In this work, bleeding in the moulds and the effects of anti-bleeding additive were carefully studied. The results derived from experimental studies were compared with those of reference materials. Results were presented in two dimensional graphs to illustrate the effect of particle size and various chemical admixtures on the degree of bleeding. Keywords: Castable refractories, castable moulds, investment casting
